Percussion solo  by the russian Yuri Chugúyev, composer of "Concert for the World Peace", performed in Manizales, Colombia, with the Caldas Symphonic Orchestra.

The Cultural University Centre Rogelio Salmona & the city of Caldas received the PAX URBIS Award for the promotion of culture

The Award delivery took place during the Concert performed by the Symphonic Orachestra of Caldas.


Gorka Sierra, Artistic Director of the orchestra, said:

“Any process of peace needs the promotion of culture. The PAX URBIS recognizes the effort of the Caldas University to build the Cultural Centre Rogelio Salmona, which will promote the cultural development of the region. The Russian maestro Yuri Chugúyev and I were the ones who postulate the Centre to be rewarded with this distinction”.

Pablo Marcet Bonel, international director of 100 Cities for Peace, delivered the prize as he said: “ it is such an honour to me to reward the Caldas University with the Pax Urbis Award. With this concert we would like to tune our bet for peace: the music, the culture and the PAX URBIS Award will give more recognition to the Cultural Center, the Caldas University and the City of Caldas for their contribution to Manizales and the region”
