Zilda Arns was a medical pediatrician and humanitarian Brazilian activist nominated to the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

Founder and international coordinator of the Children and of the Elderly People Pastoral, social action organizations of the National Conference of the Bishops of Brazil.

She passed away during a humanitarian mission in the Haiti earthquake of January 12, 2010 in Port-au-Prince.
